PROFILE

I have been teaching in Hong Kong for over four years now, and have loved every minute of it. My idea of Hong Kong was based on what I had seen in movies: I imagined epic kung fu fights in smokey restaurants, and shady policemen and gangstas lurking around every corner. My reference points were Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle (功夫) and Wong Jing's Dances with Dragon (與龍共舞) which I heartily recommend to everyone.

Instead I found an incredibly vibrant and fast-paced city, full of loud, busy people undaunted by the towering skyscrapers surrounding them. You could wander the streets for years and still not uncover all the incredible street art, shops and restaurants hidden away in the most unlikely places.

At the moment I am the EdB Native English Teacher in S.K.H. Tin Wan Chi Nam Primary School. I am still settling into my new job, but I am very excited by the new opportunities. It was difficult leaving my previous school (Bui O Public School) as I made so many fantastic friends, it felt like being part of a family, with the students being cheeky nephews and nieces running around. I aim to bring that sense of community and belonging to my new  school, wish me luck!
