Summer Fete 2019
During the summer holiday, I went back to the UK to see my family and help out with the village fete. Every year, people in the village come together and organise a festival to raise money for our local church. There are lots of silly games for people to play like bowling for pigs, splat-a-rat, and egg on a post. People come from other villages to play these games and win prizes.
The Village Church is almost 800 years old, and needs lots of money to keep it running. You can see lots of wheat growing in the field around it. The village has remained the same for hundreds of years. It is very peaceful.
Being back home in the summer was very pleasant. It is a lot cooler than Hong Kong and a lot less humid. This meant I could sit out by the river and enjoy the beautiful weather. The flowers in the garden were blooming, and we would sit outside in the evening enjoying the cool night air. It was a fantastic trip!
